J.J. Abrams Talks Cloverfield Sequel

Sun, Jan 17, 2010

He didn’t say much, but here’s the quote from MTV:

We’re working on something right now with that and again, you know, it’s early stages.

So take it as you will, but at least they still have a sequel in their heads, so hopefully we’ll see something soon.

Found this image the other day that was taken from the monster designer’s (Neville) portfolio. Check out what the monster could have looked like.

Cloverfield Sequel In The Works According to JJ Abrams

Mon, Mar 2, 2009

Those are the words I’ve been waiting to hear since Cloverfield came out in theaters last January. JJ Abrams ran a panel at Wondercon this past week/end to discuss his latest hit television show Fringe and while on the panel he was asked about the Cloverfield sequel and what’s going on with that. Below is his response.

We’re actually working on an idea right now,” Abrams told the packed crowd. “The key obviously at doing any kind of sequel, certainly this film included, is that it better not be a business decision. If you’re going to do something, it should be because you’re really inspired to do it. It doesn’t really have to mean anything, doesn’t mean it will work, but it means we did it because we cared, not because we thought we could get the bucks. We have an idea that we thought was pretty cool that we’re playing with, which means there will be something that’s connected to ‘Cloverfield,’ but I hope it happens sooner than later because the idea is pretty sweet.

So there you have it, they are currently working on something and, at least, JJ wants it to happen sooner than later. So that’s good news for all us Cloverfield fans out there and it also means that this website will have a purpose again! So keep this site bookmarked and add us to your twitter feed (click the bird in the upper right) to stay up on all the latest happenings with the sequel. If/when this whole thing goes down I plan on opening up a new forum dedicated strictly to Cloverfield, unlike the last one that was just a mess of stuff.

Slusho Appears in Star Trek

Tue, Dec 16, 2008

Everyone here remembers Slusho! The magical drink from Japan that turned out to have no real significance in the movie itself. Well apparently as a “goof” JJ Abrams decided to give it a cameo in the new Star Trek movie. Apparently it makes an appearance in the bar scene where Kirk first meets Uhura. Abrams said that it doesn’t have anything to do with anything really (in terms of Star Trek), it was just a fun sort of easter egg for fans of Cloverfield and Alias. So don’t expect to see HUD making a bootleg video of the Enterprise in the background of shots or the Cloverfield monster destroying stuff. Although, if you’ve watched the trailer for Star Trek there is a crazy looking creature that does resemble Clovie…hmmm.

Anyways, if you want to read the entire article/interview with JJ about the Star Trek movie, head on over to MTV.
