UPDATE: Cloverfieldclues has a full transcript and audio from JJ Abrams speaking at the Paramount panel yesterday, check it out.
Alright here we go.

  • JJ Abrams comes out (wearing an Infocom shirt, to boot!) and in extremely rapid-fire fashion he tells us, “I wanted a monster movies, and had taken my son to Japan, and there were all these Godzilla dolls everywhere.” *cheers from the audience* “However, I decided we needed our own monster. We’re not showing any footage, but we’re almost done shooting, and I think you’ll love it. We aren’t revealing a title today.” *boos from the audience* “What would you think if we called it Monstruous?” *Puzzled reaction from crowd.* “Anyhow, we’ll see. We have a new poster out, and you’ll be getting that today. I can’t wait for you to see this.. Bye!
  • Wow was that it?

Apparently it was, The Authors of Spiderwick Chronicles are now on stage… hrmmm seems like typical JJ Abrams to not tell us anything at all. May be he was pissed his poster got leaked early? Who knows, kinda weak, but more intriguing. Alright, I am not going to be sitting in front of the computer like a hawk tonight waiting for info to pour in, so if you got a lead on something post it over at the forum or leave a comment (i’ll see them when I approve them).

      Abrams would do this.

      he’s a sneaky little devil.

don’t worry. I’m sure there will be some sort of surprise…? maybe.

      maybe not.

Hmm, looks like he was pissed that the poster was leaked early and decided not to reveal anything. Quite sad.

Heres my thought on the monster. Hear me out b4 you go out and laugh about it. But what if, just what if this was a future glass into the TV Show ‘Lost”? And what if the the numbers to the computer that they had to push every 108 mins were to control this monster in inside this Island? But now since the computer is gone the world will come to an end like no one has seen b4. They did mention that this button pushing will keep the world from destruction. I mean we have proof that this could be a “Lost” look into the future movie. The writer of Lost is helping write this movie JJ and him are really the only people who knows how “Lost” will end, so they say. But I think it would be supper cool if this was hooked to “Lost” but didn’t really realize it until the last season or so. But call me Crazy.

if u go to wikipedia and type in monsterous it will automatically take u to the wiki page for 1-18-08/Cloverfield. im pretty sure this is more evidence to back up the title on the movie poster that was found.

No, wikipedia is simply edited by everyday people. So they saw the monstrous poster and linked it to the 1-18-08 article. It doesn’t prove anything.

Over at Ain’t It Cool Harry is reporting that MONSTROUS is going to be the first of three posters. Then there will be BARBAROUS and then FEROCIOUS with the fourth being the title of movie. From the clue he gave it looks like it might be called COLOSSUS.

The problem with wiki is that it’s not a reliable source due to the fact that just about anyone can edit and add info. I think Monstrous is a pretty weak title. It’s just wishful thinking, but I feel 1-18-08 has a far more effective, apocalyptic feel to it, and not compare it to 9/11 or anything, but that’s how I feel. Monstrous does serve well as a tagline though, but not as a title. Monstrous feels too much like a cheesy 1950’s b-rate horror film that you’d see on a rerun of Mystery Science Theater 3000

Anybody checked out this “Infocom” company (the t-shirt Abrams was wearing)? Could be some hidden meaning behind him wearing it. Maybe one of their properties is what the movie is based on?

      Could be worth looking into.

Geez, this is like deciphering the trailer!!

He doesn’t say “What would you think if we called it Monstruous?”, I’m certain he says “Do you think we’d call it ‘Monsterous’?” i.e. he was being sarcastic.

The transcript above misses out something I would consider important. At the end he mentions something about ” ..a series of 4 posters that everyone’s gonna get..”

Does he mean the people at Comic Con or the fans in general? Is it possible that “Monsterous” is one of these 4 posters? So will be expecting other views of New York similar to the ‘monsterous’ poster with similar tag lines like “destructive”; “unmercify” – or whatever?!

There ought to be a better link somewhere (one that’s not trying to sell you something), but someone on the chat gave this: http://cgi.ebay.com/SAN-DIEGO-COMIC-CON-POSTER-JJ-ABRAMS-UNTITLED-FILM-NEW_W0QQitemZ110153451655QQihZ001QQcategoryZ60334QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
It’s the teaser-poster, only it doesn’t say “Monstrous”. It says “Terrifying”. So… Uhm… Yeah… Hopefully this means we can rule out “Monstrous” as being the title…

Howdy, came across your website by pure chance this morning, but am very pleased that I did! As well as being full of contributors but it’s also very easy to understand in contrast to lots that I find. (The site I look after, is about neck pain relief). I was trying to work out what theme you had used, anyone have anny ideas? The site I’m working on is a review site for neck pain relief. I’m trying a similar layout on my attempt at a website, which is a review site for neck pain relief, – but I find somehow it appears to load much more quickly on yours even though this site appear to have a lot more material. Have you been employing any plugins or widgets that have speeded things up? : In closing, I take pleasure in such a brilliant site and it’s a good inspiration for my own modest review blog of neck pain relief. I’ll be trying to enhance my own site. Obviously, I’ll check out your great blog as often as I can.
